Eagle Radio 2.0

Ready or not, here comes Eagle Radio! This semester Toccoa Falls College’s Communication department has launched its online radio station, Eagle Radio. Savannah Smith, Eagle Radio’s manager, provided an insider’s look into this medium of communication including how to access it, different show times, positives and negatives, how to stay updated, as well as some additional information.

What is Eagle Radio?

Eagle Radio is a student-led radio station recorded in the Communication department’s publication room. Their mission statement is "We exist to create Culture in a way that Honors Christ through Discussion and Music."

How can someone access Eagle Radio?

Eagle Radio is accessible through tfc.edu or you can visit our website directly at: tfceagleradio.wixsite.com/radio. From there you can access our live stream by hitting the "Listen Live" button on the Home Page or you can download the "Oi2 Media Radio" app in your devices app store and search "Eagle Radio" and have it saved there in the app for whenever you want to listen to it.

What are the different shows that air?

Right now we have "Faith Focus " with Cameron Willis and Nick at 7 p.m. Monday evenings. On Tuesdays at 6 p.m., we have a TFC athletic show that includes live interviews with players and discussion about TFC sports, including previous and upcoming games. Wednesdays we have pop culture with Xavier Martin at 4 p.m. Thursdays SGA president, Seth Vanhorn DJs at 8 p.m. On Friday, our newest members Tiffany Carter and Jessica Robinson will be DJing as well with topics soon to be revealed. Even when there are not shows on air, the radio station plays music 24/7 as well.

What are some positives and negatives about the new Eagle Radio?

This is the first time Eagle Radio has ever been streamed online. Before this year it has always been a Toccoa FM station, so the cool thing about the station now is you can access it anytime, anywhere. The actual station has also changed locations; it used to be located in Bandy Hall, but, due to Bandy being torn down last year, the station was moved to the Communication department under Forrest Hall. We also have the ability to record music in our studio for music majors, or anyone who is interested in recording their own music, so there is the possibility we could play their recorded songs on our station. The biggest issue facing Eagle Radio right now is that it has been down for about two years now. Therefore, upperclassmen believe it is still down and the underclassmen may not even know it exists. So, unfortunately, no one really knows we are back up!

How can people keep up with what’s happening?

The best way to keep up with things is to follow our social media accounts. This is a good idea because sometimes show times may change. Right now we are on Facebook and Twitter and hope to expand. We encourage our listeners to interact with us during our shows through social media, and we will try and respond on air. Our Twitter is @TFCEagleRadio and Facebook is @TFCeagleradio.

Anything else you can tell us about Eagle Radio that may be beneficial to TFC Students?

We want to encourage anyone who is interested in participating to please contact eagleradio@tfc.edu. Help is always needed and we do count for SAO or Practicum hours!
