People of TFC: An Interview With Ade Idowu

Ade Idowu, 22, is a senior Ministry and Leadership major from Conyers, GA. Something that Ade enjoys is sports, especially basketball. His favorite sports team is the LA Lakers. One of the craziest things that Ade has done does not have anything to do with sports though, as Ade shared it was the time he and some friends drove 34 hours to California for a 12-hour worship night.

During his time at TFC, Ade has grown to love the school, explaining that his favorite part of his experience has been the professors “who are actually involved [in the students’ lives], with mercy and love.” Ade has also grown to love the community and has been very involved on campus, even working to take the stats at sports games. Before COVID-19, Ade would also pray with hospital patients. Currently, Ade is an RA, and he is involved in campus-wide prayer and worship nights. Recently, Ade has also become the TFC Student Chaplain.

The TFC Student Chaplain is a position that is new to the 2020-2021 school year. As the first Student Chaplain, Ade is working with Jordan Brown to complete admin duties, behind-the-scenes tasks, mentoring freshmen, and speaking in chapel. Ade is also hoping to get a prayer room on campus. Overall, Ade joked that he just follows “what Jordan Brown says to do.” One of the main things that Ade does, however, is “work on becoming a better leader." He is planning on using his experience in the future. Ade shared that his favorite part of the position is working with Jordan Brown.

There are lots of goals that Ade has for his future outside of TFC. Ade plans to move to Nebraska while continuing his education through a residency program from Crown College. Once he completes his residency, Ade hopes to work as a spiritual formation director. As he works towards that goal, Ade has already joked with Jordan Brown about “stealing his job” in the future.

While Ade feels like he came to TFC for the wrong reasons, he feels peace from God now about his decision and sees how coming to TFC is paving the way for his future ministry plans. Since coming to TFC, Ade feels as though he has “more mature wisdom, more theology knowledge, and more knowledge about God’s character.” For someone planning to come to TFC, Ade would advise that they “wait to date until [the] second semester of sophomore year and focus on personal development the first year and a half.” While he is getting ready to graduate, Ade hopes to leave behind him a legacy of leadership that impacted the people around him through a positive example.
