Creative Contests this Month
Want to put your photography skills to the test or just have some fun with a chance for a prize? There are a couple of photo contests happening here at Toccoa Falls College! The first is looking for the best photos with an amazing prize available to the winners. The second is more of a design contest with a photo involved. This contest also has a great prize available. Let us look into the first one, shall we?
Hosted by the TFC Marketing department, the 2018 Student Photography Contest is looking for high-quality photographs that highlight the college in an awe-inspiring manner. It is open to all current TFC students. All you need is a camera with HD capabilities and creativity. For anybody that has aspiration for professional photography, this may be right up your ally. Also, anybody wishing for a great prize should look into this opportunity as well. There are up to $350 available in cash prizes.
There are 5 categories to enter of which you can make up to three submissions to each:
TFC Life – Take a charming portrait of whatever you think represents common life here at TFC.
Sports – A photo relating to TFC’s sports activities. (Hope you have taken advantage of homecoming events.)
Fall Colors – Take a breathtaking still of Autumn's impact on our campus.
Lights – Feature something shiny and bright, from sunrises, sunsets, campfires, etc.
Creative – (Almost) anything goes. So, do not be worried if it does not fit the other categories.
There is a $50 reward for the best of each of the categories, with a $100 grand prize for best overall. In addition, the grand prize photo will be featured in the TFC Connections Magazine. The deadline for submissions is November 9th, so you still have a month to snap your pictures. Winners will be decided upon by a panel of judges from the department.
If you are planning on participating in the contest, go to https://tfc.edu/student-photo-contest/ in order to submit your photo and also to see the contest rules. Make sure you’re the one taking the picture. It should be an original work, and don’t submit more than three per category. Be sure to take the photo on the TFC campus, and fill out the submission form properly. For the full list of requirements, be sure to check out the rule-set on the website listed above.
The second contest we wish to bring to your attention is the
Odyssey Challenge for the Odyssey Coffeehouse. It’s not a photography contest per-se, but you’ll still need a knack for appealing pictures. The rules are simple: decorate your coffee sleeve, take a picture of it, and post that on the respective Odyssey Coffeehouse’s pages on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #OdysseyChallenge. Turn in your decorated sleeve to the coffeehouse to have it displayed. The coffeehouse staff will then decided on their favorite submission, and the winner will receive a free drink of their choosing! The deadline for this competition is October 31.
