People of TFC: Drew Rinehart

If you have been at TFC for very long, Drew Rinehart is probably a name that you are familiar with. Drew is a junior this year, and is studying to be a cross-cultural major. Drew grew up in Nicholasville, Kentucky with five older sisters, a younger sister, and a younger brother. When asked what his favorite thing about TFC was, he joked that it was “the bathrooms in Earl Hall.” He quickly added that it was actually the “community, and the fact that you are surrounded by students and professors who actually care about you.”

Drew is a big part of the TFC community himself. He is a sports lover, so his job as the executive chair for the SGA Collegiate Sports Committee is fitting. His favorite part of the position is “the SGA team, and the way that they feed off each other.” Drew said that the hardest part of his position is balancing his spiritual life, SGA, school, social life, and working at the post office.

Drew also leads a small group at River Point Community Church in Habersham. Despite being involved in all of these things, Drew humbly does not think he has that much of an impact on the campus community as a whole. Instead, Drew would rather affect the individual people around him, even if it is just a smile or a kind word.

In the future, Drew hopes to be an overseas missionary integrating sport into his ministry. The cross-cultural program is what drew him to TFC, and he has already participated in an overseas internship. It is clear that Drew has a heart for people, as proved by his goals in missions and the impact he desires to have. Whether it is through his SGA position, or by giving a simple smile to a stranger, Drew has made and continues to make a big impact on this campus.
