Top 10 Adventures Around TFC

When first coming to Toccoa, finding an adventure can be difficult. Being in a small town, with seemingly nothing around, it can be easy to just sit around campus. There is plenty to do when you look though, and here are some ideas to get you started!

(1) Schoolbus Graveyard

It may not seem like much, but a trip to the Schoolbus Graveyard can end up being quite fun! There is lots of graffiti to look at on the various busses, and it makes for a fun photo spot. If you are bored and looking for a fun little adventure, the Schoolbus Graveyard with friend is definitely a fun option.

(2) Jaemor Farms

Pumpkins, flowers, and an open-air market are always enjoyable, and that is exactly what Jaemor Farms offers. A 30-minute drive, heading to Jaemor Farms with friends is the perfect way to spend a couple hours. Grab some friends and a camera and enjoy the afternoon!

(3) Black Rock Mountain

About 40 minutes away, the drive to Black Rock Mountain is worth it. Located in Clayton, GA, you can see the entire town from the top of the mountain. If you need a quick afternoon adventure, a trip to see the view, museum, and gift shop of Black Rock Mountain is recommended.

(4) Goats on the Roof

The name “Goats on the Roof” is fairly self-explanatory. Located 30 minutes away in Tiger, Ga, Goats on the Roof offers Ice Cream, a café, a gift shop, and of course, goats on the roof! For a quick stress reliever, a visit to see the adorable goats is worth it.

(5) Gainesville, Ga

A trip to Gainesville may not be all too exciting, but sometimes a stress relieving trip to go shopping and get good food is needed. With plenty of food and shopping choices, a night on the town can make some great memories. If you are feeling cooped up and loaded with stressful work, take a trip to Gainesville with friends!

(6) Minnehaha Falls

A short drive from campus, Minnehaha (literally pronounced "mini haha") is a gorgeous waterfall. The hike is fairly short and easy and absolutely worth it! For something fun to do outdoors one weekend, consider splashing around at Minnehaha!

(7) Tallulah Gorge

About 25 minutes north of TFC, visiting Tallulah Gorge is always fun. There’s lots of history and some hiking, shopping, and gorgeous views. If you are looking for an adventure, Tallulah Gorge is absolutely worth a trip - short or long.

(8) Broken Bridges

Broken Bridges is a local spot that is loved by many. While it may not seem overly exciting, it has a great view, and it sits right on the South Carolina-Georgia border. For a quick evening adventure, take some friends, some food, and enjoy the sunset.

(9) Helen, GA

About 45 minutes away from Toccoa, Helen is a small German-style town. There are lots of fun carnival type things, putt-putt, shopping, German restaurants, and tubing on the river. If you are looking for a fun day trip with friends, a visit to Helen is highly recommended!

(10) Currahee Mountain

While Currahee is fairly well known around Toccoa, it is often underrated. Currahee Mountain offers an amazing view and a breathtaking sunrise. If you are looking for something easy, close by, and free, Currahee is highly recommend. Grab some fuzzy blankets and friends and check out the view.

Note: If you decide to do this, make sure your car can handle steep inclines or that you are prepared for a hike.
